How to set up your space…

Where possible, try claim a room in the house all to yourself. Ideally you want a mirror so you can see what you’re doing, but it’s not necessary. Approximately 2-3 sqm is adequate space and you should have a kitchen bench, ironing board or chair handy to use as a barre! Then place your device that you’ll be streaming off somewhere that shows your entire body to your teacher but also easy for you to watch your teacher.

Also, VERY IMPORTANT! Try set up your space so that when the camera is facing you, you have the left hand on the barre with the right leg ready to work with your body facing your device (see picture below)…

How to prepare for class!

It’s simple really! Pretend you’re attending class at the studio. Dress in ballet attire and do your hair as you would for class. You’ll not only feel more polished, but you’ll also perform better. I recommend also having a yoga mat, theraband and stretching strap handy just in case your teacher wants to use any equipment. I find having a basket with all my ‘dancer tools’ off to the side the perfect solution!
